Alien Country
If “love” really conquers all, how will it stack up in a no-holds-barred arena battle against extra-terrestrial monsters?
When Jimmy Walker, a local demolition derby driver, finds out his girlfriend Everly is pregnant, he figures it's the toughest news he'll get that day. Yet, somehow, the two of them also manage to accidentally open a mysterious portal, and a horde of bio-engineered alien creatures are
set loose in the small desert town of “Blue River.”
In a race against time, these soon-to-be parents must quickly learn to work together and stop the invasion, or their town, their planet, and their relationship will be annihilated.
Alien Country, a comedic, action-packed sci-fi film that has been in the works for over nine years! This lengthy production period shows in the evident love, personal effort, and craftsmanship that went into it, all on what was a relatively modest budget. The entire crew deserves commendation for their impressive visual achievements.
From the CGI antagonists that seamlessly integrate into the real world to the EPIC visuals and fast-paced stunts, the film rivals some of the multi-million dollar offerings from Hollywood in recent years. While the effects are a feast, one aspect that feels lacking is the absence of gore; when the inevitable kills do occur these generally happen off-screen, which might disappoint some viewers.
The cast delivers great chemistry and sharp performances, enhanced by clever dialogue witty one-liners and quality editing, that all add an extra layer of fun. The overall vibe brings to mind "Tremors", and that is said with genuine admiration!
The story develops nicely, though it can be a bit predictable, however, if you take the ride with the mindset of just wanting to enjoy some laughs and thrilling action, perhaps with a beer in hand, Alien Country is sure to entertain.
Alien Country, a fast paced action packed enjoyable experience, though you may be found wanting for just a little bit more........Alien Country 2 anyone?
