A stillborn baby girl is abducted from hospital by a morgue attendant and brought back to life using electrokinetic power. On her sixteenth birthday she escapes her captor and sets out to find her birth mother leaving a trail of destruction behind her.

Reborn, when a creepy mortuary assistant comes across a stillborn baby that is miraculously brought back to life by an electrical storm, I think we know where this story is going, especially when B Movie veteran Barbara Crampton is involved.

Re-Animating a classic tale, Crampton, ably assisted (again) by another B legend Michael Paré, and relatively newcomer Kayleigh (not Carrie) 

Gilbert, take us on a Fury(ious) journey.....but what will the final destination be and will it be a Firestarter?

Reborn is a film that has won industry awards in the USA and it’s not hard to see why, with plenty of action and death crammed into its quite short running time of 80 minutes, creating some epic thrills and spills and with the aforementioned credible cast.....kudos to Gilbert who stands out in her first major role and portrays angst, anger and obsessive love to great effect.

 

Having to use your imagination for first 15 years, 11 months and 30 days approximately of young Tess's (Gilbert) life with the said mortuary assistant works really well, as we head straight into the action from her 16th birthday onward when she manages to break free from her 

shackles and begins her quest for the truth. From here on in we see the story from two viewpoints – the daughter’s mission to find her mother whilst letting no one stand in her way and the mother’s view of trying to find out what happened to her daughter’s body.

Comparisons to some of the classics are inevitable, for the keen eye you may have spotted one or two in this review.....but which is the curve ball.......? If there is negative it would be that the death scenes could have been more visual, although some are sudden offering heart stopping shock moments.
