Demon Hunter

Taryn Barker embarks on a dark journey with the supernatural to avenge the rape and murder of her sister, surviving a deadly possession and becoming trained to fight evil by a team of demon hunters.

When she is detained by the police years later in connection with the murder of a man she believes to be a demon, the tables turn as Detective Beckett asks for her help in rescuing his own daughter from a demonic cult.

Demon Hunter, a kick ass action horror flick from first time Director Zoe Kavanagh, with a throwback to the 90's/00's style and some epic (and obviously cheesy) one-liners included for good measure.

With so many influences on hand, the likes of Blade, Supernatural, Underworld, maybe a hint of Terminator and of course a bit of Buffy, Demon Hunter doesn't try to be ground breaking, but what it does do is "try".

So the scene is set, a dark (very dark) opening story about our heroine and her becoming, onto a rescue tale with a twist, then comes the "try" which is in two forms. Firstly the fight scenes, for a low budget feature  these are excellently choreographed with very little use of CGI except where absolutely necessary (no elongated, weightless fake looking bodies here folks, sorry to disappoint if that your thing), and then secondly the production value, which is way ahead of it's meagre budget, Demon Hunter really does impress from quality cinematography and excellent lighting, through to the incredible score and toe tapping, headbanging soundtrack.

Demon Hunter, a really enjoyable low budget indie experience, especially from a first time Director. The B is looking forward to seeing what potential delights are offered in the future.
